Victron MultiPlus-II Inverter Charger 12/3000/120-32

Victrons new inverter/charger. The MultiPlus-II combines the functions of the MultiPlus and the MultiGrid.  It has all the features of the MultiPlus, plus an external current transformer option to implement PowerControl and PowerAssist and to optimize self-consumption with external current sensing (max. 32A).  It also has all the features of the MultiGrid with built-in anti-islanding and an increasingly long list of country approvals.

PowerAssist. The MultiPlus-II will prevent overload of a limited AC source, such as a generator or shore power connection. First, battery charging will automatically be reduced when otherwise an overload would occur. The second level will boost the output of a generator or shore side supply with power taken from the battery.

ESS: Energy Storage Systems. The MultiPlus-II is the key component in a Victron ESS system, providing the flexibility to combine with MPPT Solar Chargers or Grid-tie PV Inverters. For examples and more detailed information see the ESS (Energy Storage System) manual.

Uninterrupted AC power (UPS function). In the event of a grid failure, or when shore or generator power is disconnected, the inverter within the Multi is automatically activated and takes over the supply to the connected loads. This happens so fast (less than 20 milliseconds) that computers and other electronic equipment will continue to operate without disruption.

Remote Monitoring and Control. Monitor and control your Multi and system or systems' locally (LAN) or remotely via the internet from anywhere in the world, using the free VRM app and free  VRM portal  website. Access can be from a phone, tablet, laptop, or PC for multiple operating systems. There is no end to the level of control, via the required Color Control GX or Venus GX, from adjusting your Multi to auto-starting a back generator and more.

Victron Lynx Smart BMS 500 NG (M10)

The Lynx Smart BMS NG is a dedicated Battery Management System for Victron Lithium NG (not to be confused with the Lynx Smart BMS 500A, which is for Victron Smart Lithium batteries) batteries available with a nominal voltage of 12.8V, 25.6V and 51.2V in various capacities. This is the safest of the mainstream lithium battery types. The maximum number of batteries in one system is 50, which results in a maximum energy storage of 192kWh in a 12V system and up to 384kWh in a 24V and 48V system. The maximum energy storage capacity can be multiplied by paralleling multiple Lynx Smart BMSs, which also ensures redundancy should one battery bank fail.

Multiple BMS-es are available for our Lithium NG series of batteries, and the Lynx Smart BMS NG is the most feature-rich and complete option.

Features:

  • Built-in 500A contactor used as a fallback safety mechanism and also suitable as a remote controllable main system switch.
  • Battery monitor, indicating state of charge percentage and more data.
  • Pre-alarm signal: provides a warning before the system shuts down due to a low cell voltage.
  • Bluetooth for use with our VictronConnect App, for setup, monitoring and diagnostic.
  • Local and remote monitoring using a Victron GX device, for example, the Cerbo GX and our VRM portal.
  • M10 busbar - The Lynx Smart BMS NG integrates seamlessly into our Lynx Distributor system and can be connected to all Lynx M10 products.

Victron Smart Battery Protect 12/24V-100A

The Smart BatteryProtect disconnects the battery from non-essential loads before it is completely discharged (which would damage the battery) or before it has insufficient power left to crank the engine.

When using Bluetooth to program the Smart BatteryProtect any required engage/disengage levels can be set.
Alternatively, one of nine predefined engage/disengage levels can be set with the programming pin (see manual).

If required, Bluetooth can be disabled.

The Smart BatteryProtect is not designed for reverse currents from charging sources.

Victron Cerbo GX MK2

This model is a small hardware improvement over the prior one. In short, use the MK2 for systems that require either (a) an isolated VE.Can port or (b) dual full function CAN-bus ports, for example in larger RV and coach systems that contain both a VE.Can network as well as a RV-C network, or (c) three fully functional USB ports, instead of two.

This all-new communication-centre allows you to always have perfect control over your system from wherever you are and maximises its performance. Simply connect through our Victron Remote Management (VRM) portal, or access directly, using the separate GX Touch 50, a MFD or our VictronConnect app thanks to its added Bluetooth capability. This latest addition to the GX-range combines all the best of connectivity, redefining smart power solutions in every way.

Perfect monitoring & control. Instantly monitor the battery state of charge, power consumption, power harvest from PV, generator, and mains, or check tank levels and temperature measurements. Easily control the shore power input current limit, (auto)start/stop generator(s) or change any setting to optimise the system. Follow up on alerts, perform diagnostic checks and resolve challenges remotely. The Cerbo GX MK2 turns any power challenge into an effortless experience.

Maximise your system performance. The Cerbo GX MK2 maximises the performance of your systems components in real-time and keeps them in perfect tune. With its Dual Core Processor and the addition of an extra CAN-bus port you can now support even bigger systems; closely follow managed (lithium) batteries while the second port can support up to 25 simultaneously connected VE.Can solar chargers. The new NMEA 2000-out support has the GX easily integrated into any boats network. Four tank- and four temperature ports as well as 3 VE.Direct ports, 3 USB ports, 4 digital inputs and 2 relays allow you to expand control to a new level. Maximising systems performance was never this easy.

Expand your view. The new (optional) GX Touch 50 display allows you to have an instant overview of your system and adjust settings in the blink of an eye. Its super slim 5 inch waterproof design, top-mountable setup and its simple installation bring a lot of flexibility when creating a crisp and clean dashboard.

Simple mounting and configuration. The Cerbo GX MK2 is now optimised to more than meet the standards of installer professionals. The device is easily mountable on a DIN-Rail (with DIN35 adapter small, not included) and its separate touchscreen can now be bolted on top of a dashboard, eliminating the need to create perfect cut-outs (like with the Color Control GX) and is connected through just one cable, taking away the hassle of having to bring many wires to a dashboard. Its new Bluetooth feature enables a quick connection and configuration via our VictronConnect app.

Outsmart any power challenge. The Cerbo GX MK2 serves endless purposes, extending perfect control to the most diverse applications. For solutions including generators, such as Marine, or Backup & Off-grid, it will auto-start/stop your generator, or delays ignition until the end of ‘quiet’ periods. For Energy Storage Systems it keeps backup batteries at 100%, kicks-in during power-cuts and diverts excess (solar) power to self-consumption, saving you money. For RV and Emergency vehicles it keeps vital systems function flawlessly. But that’s just to name a few.

Q & A

  • What size battery do I need for my caravan?

Great question! Your deep cycle battery for your caravan will be a minimum of 100 Amp Hours (Ah).

The average size for a Caravan is 200Ah. Usually, 2 x 100Ah connected in Parallel. However, if your budget allows to upgrade to a Lithium battery you can get a lot more power for the size of the battery. For example, a 200Ah lithium battery can be equivalent to up to 360 Ah of an AGM battery.

To work out exactly what size you require you need to first look at the load you are planning on drawing. The load should be calculated in Amps per hour, or Amp Hours (Ah). Batteries are rated in Amp Hours (Ah) as well.

So, if you are drawing a 50Ah per day, a 100Ah AGM battery can provide power for about 1 day as you do not want to draw more than 50% from your battery. However, it is not always easy to find what each appliance draws. Some popular examples are following:

    • 150L 12V Fridge = 2.5 Amps per hour (2.5Ah) - runs for 24 hours a day
    • 12V Water Pump = 3.5 Amps per hour (3.5Ah) - only runs for 1 hour a day
    • Phone Charger = 0.5 Amps per hour (0.5Ah) - Maybe 4 hours per day
    • 12V Fan = 4 Amps per hour (4Ah) - Maybe 4 hours per day

Then you will need to factor in how much charge you are putting in Daily. The charge comes in the way of Solar and in car charging via a DC to DC charger.

Ideally you want enough charge input per day to cover the load drawn, then enough battery storage to last 2 - 3 days without charge.

  • What is best - AGM or lithium battery?

The answer is simple. Lithium is a better product than AGM.

Lithium is lighter, more compact, and powerful, it will also last longer.

However, a lithium battery will cost more, because it is a highly sort after product. Almost everything that has a battery nowadays will have a lithium battery. Mobile phone, Electric Car, Electric Bike and Skateboard just to name a few.

There are situations where you can get away with an AGM battery. If you only need about 100ah (most 4 x 4 set ups), you can purchase 1 x 100ah battery and a battery box and away you go.

However, once you start getting into the larger amperages (200+) it really makes more sense to turn to lithium.

  • How do I charge my caravan battery?

There are three ways to charge your caravan Battery. Either:

    • AC to DC - This is using a traditional battery charger that plugs into mains power.
    • DC to DC - This is a battery charger connected between the start battery of your tow vehicle and the Caravan Battery. This will charge the battery whilst driving.
    • Solar - Solar panels on your roof can be connected to a solar charge controller then to your Caravan Battery.
  • How much solar do I need to keep my caravan battery charged?

Ideally, you want use as much solar as you can fit on the roof. Extra portable solar panels are also good idea if you want to park your van in the shade and run a portable panel from a lead in the sun please see our solar range here.

Solar is cheap relative to the rest of your system, and it provides so much of your power when you are camping off grid.

However, the solar required depends on the load. Please feel free to contact our team for any specific questions on your battery - 1800 787 278!
