Q & A
-
Can I Use This Battery With Renogy App?
Yes. You can download the Renogy app and connect to your battery. Once connected, you can track present voltage, current, temperature, and more information right on your phone. If you have multiple Bluetooth-enabled devices from Renogy, Renogy ONE Core is highly recommended for easier energy monitoring and management.
-
Will This New Bluetooth Version Work With My Old 12V 200Ah Core LiFePO4 Battery?
Yes, it is compatible with the last generation of 12V 200Ah Core Deep Cycle LFP RV battery. If you're unsure about the version you have, our customer support team is ready to assist you.
-
I Have 4 Renogy 100W 12V Solar Panels. Will These Work With This LiFePO4 Battery Or Is That Too Much Wattage?
Yes, but please make sure that your solar charge controller is capable of handling the power your solar panels can output. Do not connect solar panels directly to batteries without a solar charge controller. Feel free to contact us if you have questions about how to size the solar charge controller for your system.
-
Can This Battery Be Used In Series To Build A 48-Volt System?
Yes. Renogy 12V Core Series Batteries can be connected in series to ramp up voltage for a 24V, 36V, or 48V off-grid power system. You can also consider wiring batteries in series first and then wire sets of batteries (same models required) in parallel for maximum power up to 40.96kWh.
-
How Many Renogy 12V 200Ah Core Series Batteries Can I Connect At Most?
The Core Series batteries support versatile connections, including series, parallel, and series-parallel connection. You can connect up to 4 batteries in series, 8 in parallel, or 16 in the series-parallel connection. Batteries of the same model and similar capacity are required.
-
How To Recharge My LiFePO4 Batteries?
Whether you prefer charging batteries via solar, a DC-DC battery charger, or an AC-DC charger, we highly recommend a solar charge controller or charger that is compatible with lithium iron phosphate batteries.
-
Does the DC-DC charger stop once fully charged? (MYG)
No, it will continue to trickle charge the battery maintaining 100% charge. This is achieved via a Voltage Sensitive Relay built into the DC to DC chargers MPPT.
-
How do I change the battery type?
You will need to click the button located on the PV+ and ALT+ side of the DCDC, continue pressing the button and it will display different colours for each battery type. Refer to page 15 of the operations manual, to identify your battery type.
-
How much solar will the charger be able to handle?
The charger has a maximum solar input of 660W
-
Can the charger be mounted on its side?
Yes, the battery charger can be installed horizontally as well as vertically.
-
What size fuses are recommended?
The recommended vehicle input fuse rating is 75A, and the charger output fuse rating is 65A.
-
Can I run solar via this charger?
Yes, this charger has an inbuilt MPPT solar regulator. Ensure you do not exceed 660w of solar and 25 VOC.
-
Is this model able to charge from Alternator and Solar simultaneously? The older models would not charge from Alternator if solar was connected; thus, the charge current would be, say, 10A instead of 50A when the car was running. What are your thoughts on this charger? I was running a Ctek d250se and a smartpass 120. This with a lithium, the issue I found was that the charge profile of the charger would not allow it to reach the charge voltage required by the battery, only charging the battery to 14.2v, where a proper charge is 14.6v. This Renogy unit has a user profile which allows me to set the charge voltage. Do you recommend anything over the Renogy? Is there anything that provides MPPT and a good charge current with the ability to change the charge voltages? I plan to upgrade my lithium to 300ah.
Yes, the Renogy DCC50S (RBC50D1S) can charge from both solar and alternator simultaneously. It prioritizes solar input and supplements with alternator power if needed, up to the rated charging current. This model is highly rated. It provides the full charge current as long as it's available from your alternator. You can adjust the voltage for smart alternators using the Renogy app via the BT-2 Bluetooth module. This is the only model that charges from both inputs at once and allows for battery type changes.
