Ayers Rock Campground

Ayers Rock Campground is part of the Ayers Rock Resort, a sprawling expanse of cabins and camping facilities located just 15km away from Uluru. The property can accommodate all makes and sizes of caravans and motorhomes, besides offering well-appointed cabins for guests who prefer a little extra comfort. Supporting infrastructure includes modern toilets and showers, laundry facilities, a camp kitchen and barbecue area, a swimming pool and a playground. In addition to these, guests can also make the most of the in-house restaurant and shopping facilities at the Resort, and participate in a variety of organized daily activities free of cost.

Curtin Springs Wayside Inn and Cattle Station

Located about 100km from Uluru, Curtin Springs Cattle Station is very popular among caravanning tourists heading out to Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. The main USP of the property takes the shape of practically unlimited unpowered sites, which are offered free of cost to boot. The management charges guests separately for using facilities such as showers. A limited number of powered caravan sites are also available, though they must be booked in advance. Unpowered sites are allotted on a first-come-first-served basis.

Free Camping / Low Cost Camping:

Besides roadside rest areas that can be found on the Northern Territory Government website, caravanning tourists can find several free camping options scattered around Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. These include Lizard Bore, about 500km north of the National Park, 10km west of Mount Liebig, and Chambers Pillar Camping Ground, about 380km east of the National Park. The former has no amenities, while the latter offers pit toilets and limited barbecue space. A nominal camping fee is applicable at Chambers Pillar Camping Ground. Rainbow Valley is another low-budget option with basic amenities, very close to Chambers Pillar.
